The Cold War: Toughest: Americans: 15) Liberation [North Korea]
Back in Inchon Offensive, you are given the option to continue attacking North Korea once the timer passes. If you don't want to continue, then you get the chance to attack North Korea, where this scenario pops up if you do.
The goals are identical to the Liberation scenario with Egypt. A standard 2v1 where if your Rebel ally loses, you lose as well.
Now, with your Ally spawning closer to your enemy than you, with no starting army, it's certain they will be attacked first.
This is, one of the toughest scenarios to start. The success rate of passing the first 2 minutes without losing was probably around 20%. And even then, you aren't guaranteed to win or last longer than 5 minutes. It seems as though there is an element of luck as you will rely on your Ally to build another city or a temple to help boost the odds in your favour.....
The map doesn't change. Which is good, because there are ruins you need to collect. But also bad, as the exact same thing happens everytime...
Your ally gets rushed within 30 seconds. Here's a way I found that can work, though it has limited consistency. The idea is to delay the enemy from capturing the capital, until you get reinforcements, or your ally builds a second city/temple.
In the first 10 seconds:
1) Grab all your standing army and your CEO and move them towards your Ally. The CEO should be using forced march to get them there quicker. The scout needs to be separated and grabbing the ruins to the east of the first mountain. Later on, he needs to grab the two ruins in the open plains, then the one west of your friend around the mountain.
2) You need to build 3-4 citizens. One needs to build a farm. One needs to move northeast around the mountain to plonk down a second city.
3) Research Science and Civics immediately in that order. Military and Commerce technologies are needed next, though the order can change depending on ruin bonuses. But you need to have Military researched by the time your second city is up to build a barracks.
Have your army intercept the enemy army. It seems as though most of their units are preoccupied with destroying the senate first and then go for the city. Use the scout to find the decoys and avoid targeting those units. The spy should use sniper rather than sabotaging a tank as it gets to live longer.
Bazookas should target tanks and infantry on the comrade/general before bazookas and then other infantry. Your armoured scout cars should target tanks.
Try to target the units targeting you first and then quickly chip away at his army. At some point your ally may try to build a temple/city which is a good sign of luck. It's really hard to micro this encounter as the balance is delicate. You want units targeting you, but if all your forces are destroyed, then the enemy will almost certainly grab the city. So you need to distract just a few units at a time to pick off, without losing the city..... Very tricky.
I've found it's better to engage once most units start attacking the senate. Acting as a decoy at the start just gets your army pulverised to dust, followed by helplessly watching your defeat approach...
In the meantime, once the city is up, a barracks needs to be placed on the edge on your borders. Meanwhile, your cities need to be focussing on food and wood. Build farms, woodcutter camps at the second city and try to build more citizens at the Capital to help get your economy up quickly. You may get spare wood (from ruins), and a market is probably the best choice.
Once that barracks is up, train any infantry you can and send them over. An auto plant is also good or if the enemy is small in numbers, then rush that citizen over to build a bunker in front of the city. It needs to act as a decoy.
If you get this far, then go 50/50 on units to economy. Second and third attacks happen pretty quickly on your allies and you need to be able to defend them until they get another city up.
Assuming you get this far. You need a third city for the economy, the first two cities need mines as you'll be crying for metal and a docks (for fish) and airbase (for copters) are needed as quickly as possible. The fish will give you wealth until you get your caravans and cities up and the copters will destroy any tanks that the enemy army has.
After that, if your ally gets a 3-4 cities, you should start attacking instead. The worst has passed, and you will definitely be able to win the scenario now, as it's finally a 2v1 situation where superior numbers will win.
Very hard first two minutes. Definitely took some time to work out. Worth it though.
