Like, for real; between Lordran, Oolacile, Irythiil & neighboring Lothric, that's like a bajillion little countries that have all sprung up in proximity to Anor Londo. It's weird.
Dark Souls defined a genre with it's acclaimed release back in 2009, and has more or less given rise to its own genre of imitators and spiritual successors of "soulslike" games. Nothing quite compares to the original though: with an involved death-drop-retrieval mechanic engaging players through regular risk assessment and an attention to level & enemy design that keeps players on their toes while remaining fair (mostly), this is one of those games you've GOT to play for yourself.
