Before advancing, you may want to procure a few select items, and to do that, a couple of NPCs are going to have to die. Remember Lautrec the knight you saved in undead parish? Kill him. Remember Oscar from the undead asylum? Kill him too. You may have run into Havel at the tower in Undead Burg? Kill him, but be prepared for a good fight. Upgrading your weapons and armor makes it a lot easier.
