Darth Vader has Starkiller locked away on Kamino at the cloning facility. He claims that Starkiller is a "clone." After having played through the game a few times I am uncertain if that's true or not. Perhaps - Vader is just saying that as a way to break Starkiller down to make him easier to control.
Perhaps he just enjoys seeing Starkiller suffer.
Or maybe he is telling the truth - Starkiller really did die saving his friends in the original game.

I choose to believe he lived and his story carries on.
