Day of Defeat: Source running on Source 2 using s&box
This project is abandoned. I am no longer actively working on it.
This is something I made on the old version of s&box. I ported Day of Defeat: Source into Source 2. Since the recent scene update to s&box all of it would need to be rewritten from scratch, which would take many months.
I spent quite a long time getting the movement and animations working correctly. I got a ton of help from the Team Fortress 2 Source 2 codebase.
My original aim was not to copy Day of Defeat: Source but to create a sort of spiritual successor. I was working on it by myself so I used the original assets as placeholders.
Since I started this project, Valve sent a DMCA to the creators of TF2 Source 2 because they were using their assets. This means that something like this could never be released unless all models / sounds etc. were recreated from scratch. (20 year old models are a bit dated after all.)
I think to really do a project like this justice you would need at least a couple of very talented artists working on it.
