Daytona USA is a stock car racing game released by Sega in 1994 and was the first game to use the new Model 2 board. It was a critical and commercial success, being praised for its graphics, soundtrack and sense of realism, and is one of the most successful arcade games of all time and was followed by four sequels.
It was also ported to several home systems and here I take a look at the Sega Dreamcast version released in 2001 to compare it with the arcade original. TBH I think the arcade version holds up pretty well compared to the Dreamcast.
The Arcade version is running on the Sega Model 2 emulator and the Dreamcast port is running on the Redream emulator. I boosted the resolution in both and used a few enhanchments like texture filtering and mip mapping etc.
Tracks raced....
00:00 Arcade:
01:15 Three Seven Speedway
04:40 Dinosaur Canyon
07:30 Dreamcast:
09:00 Seaside Street Galaxy
14:20 Desert City
17:18 National Park Speedway
