P1 - Sixfortyfive (USA)
P2 - Inferno (Spain)
I've been playing this game for the greater part of 15 years, and I'd have figured that I'd know most of the ins and outs of it by now. Imagine my surprise, though, when I discovered that there's a code that causes significant wear and tear to your tires depending on your performance, actually making Pit Road somewhat useful!
On the course select screen, press all 4 VR buttons at once. You should see a white dot in the top left corner, which will also appear during the race if all players enter the code. This eliminates the handicap (slow player boost), which makes for better competitive play. If you are playing in Grandprix or Endurance game modes, however, this code also causes your car to take significant damage to the tires the longer the race drags on. If the control becomes too poor for you to handle, you must pit to repair your car.
The Beginner track isn't too bad to play all the way to the end, however. Notice that my shifting patterns change in the later laps (4-1-3-4 instead of 4-1-4) to keep control, and also notice that I have some difficulty with the 2nd turn as well.
