The survival mechanics in DayZ are amazing - even down to the way that your shoes & boots will slowly wear out over time, leading eventually to them being ruined and your feet taking damage and starting to bleed.
You can extend the life of your shoes & boots by making sure your run or walk on soft surfaces, like grass, rather than the hard surfaces of the roads, paths wand railway lines.
Fix your shoes with Leather Repair Kits, keep a spare pair or some improvised feet coverings (!) and you'll never need to worry about your boots again!
