I worked on this expert mix before coming up with the idea of the yellow held enemies, so I was trying to just see how much harder I could make songs with the existing mechanics that I had. Since Solar Beam is at 140 BPM, it ends up getting pretty intense when you just have notes all over the place. I also tried to throw in some tricky sections involving notes coming from both sides at once. Writing these expert mixes is actually pretty interesting, trying to work within the constraints of the original song yet also manage to add enough elements to make the stepcharts really difficult. I ended up with something that averages around 4 notes per second, so I guess I succeeded! Even so, I still felt like I needed to go harder, as I only had difficulty in a couple of places for this song.
