Dead Cells is a fast-paced Hack & Slash platformer that is somehow both challenging and gratifying to play. Though many compare this Dead Cells to Dark Souls, it is not entirely fair to say that they are alike. Dead Cells is unique in Style, Combat, Imagery, Sound, and in its semi-prestige death mechanic. Through combat, you get gain cells which can be used to unlock items to enhance gameplay, even after dying. This incremental progress takes away some of the sting of a true perma-death system and nurtures a great deal of investment in repeated play-throughs.
