This is an open letter to Crowbar Collective, the developers of Black Mesa.

Dear Crowbar Collective...


This letter is regarding your game Black Mesa, your game has received overwhelming positivity over the years, even when the game wasn't even finished! You have made excellent work with the source game engine despite its age. You pushed that engine to its limits and it worked out wonderfully. Your recent work Xen is so spectacular, that I myself just stopped at some points during the experience just to appreciate the amount of time and work put into it.

Now I know you guys are chilling and getting a well deserved break, but I must ask you a question.


Are you familiar with Facepunch Studios? Facepunch Studios is also an independent game development company who has also made a game made on the source game engine. That game is called Garry's Mod, a game where you can mess around with assets from other games made on the source game engine.

Now excuse me for doing this without your legal permission, but I ran Black Mesa in Garry's Mod to see how well it will go and surprisingly, things went very well, even in Xen! Of course there were some missing things like NPCs, but those can be easily brought back in.

Now I know you guys are smart and can deduce what we want since the question has been asked many, many times before. I will understand if you have a negative opinion of it.



Will you give Facepunch Studios legal permission to support Black Mesa for Garry's Mod?

Now I apologize for echoing the question asked by many people before me, but apparently its one of the more requested games to be put on Garry's Mod.

However, if you agree to this proposition, your fans and the fans of Garry's Mod will be very happy.

Now I understand if you don't want characters from the game Half-Life 2 rummaging through the halls whacking every living thing upside the head in the facility with a crowbar, but not only will this give people another reason to buy the game, it will also make people stop badgering you to let Black Mesa be on Garry's Mod.

Those "fans" must be driving you crazy, and you have my sincerest condolences. Again, I will completely understand if your opinion is negative.

However, if you like the idea, we will be very happy.

More money for you, more Black Mesa for us, Garry's Mod will support another game. Everyone is happy.

We will eagerly await your response, even if it's a negative one. You giving us a response will let us know you are not dead.
