41With the success of characters like Mario and Sonic, the mascot boom of the 90s emerged, bringing all sorts of colorful characters trying to cash in on the great new craze. Some managed to get an audience with popularity that lasts to this day, others failed to get the audience’s attention and faded away in obscurity. But not all mascots ended up receiving popular attention, take these two ‘radical’ characters trying to cash in on Mario and Sonic’s popularity. A lot was put on their shoulders... and they failed miserably and were panned. But they found a cult following in spite of their infamy, a few games under their belt, heck they’re even scheduled for a return among many other beloved mascots. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re sticking around, so we better just get used to it.
