Action-adventure game Deathloop was created by Arkane Studios and released by Bethesda Softworks. On September 14, 2021, the game will be made available for Windows and the PlayStation 5 for a limited period of time.

Colt, an assassin caught in a time loop in the video game Deathloop, awakens on a beach on the island of Blackreef. The other inhabitants of Blackreef, a former army base where odd experiments had been conducted, have invested in the island and have gathered for this night to hold a party that appears to go on forever because, at the end of each night, the island resets to the beginning of the party in that time loop.
Since they wake up at the beginning of the loop with no memory of or repercussions from the previous loop, the partygoers pay no attention to their acts or deeds as a result of this reset. While taking part in this loop, Colt remembers previous ones and picks up on the attendees' habits and routines.

Before midnight, Colt must eliminate eight targets spread out throughout the island; if he leaves even one alive, the time loop will reset, undoing all of his previous progress. Additionally, if Colt passes away before eliminating the eight targets, he will reappear at the beginning of the cycle.
The player moves around the game world, avoids or kills guards, and learns the patterns of Colt's targets to determine the best order to eliminate them using weapons, melee attacks, or other environmental means using a combination of stealth, parkour, attack skills, gadgets, and powers as in Arkane's previous Dishonored and Prey games.

In the game's multiplayer mode, a player can also assume the role of Julianna, an agent entrusted with eliminating Colt and guarding the time loop. A random player's game will be entered when the player assumes this role, and they may impede their play.The multiplayer component is optional, and players can choose to have a computer-controlled opponent try to stop Colt instead of others taking on the role of Julianna in their game.
