Deconstruction In Music | Part 1
Let's discuss deconstruction in music.
While the term itself is not used in music history as an approach to a form or style, the philosophy behind it has been widely embraced among 20th-century composers and academics.
In this stream, we will take a look at 20th-century music, starting with the Second Viennese School leading up to total serialism established by Pierre Boulez.
Next week, Part Two, we will refer to music of the 1950's to the 1980's, from aleatoric music to minimalism, and styles in between.
And with this, we will see what in music had been deconstructed in the process.
