So the update for the game was released yesterday, and it did a bit more than just add in stage 2 and such, there are a few weapon balance stuff, as well as new animations and tweaked stuff and dialogue. Such as the dialogue with Slayn and Ghim are a touch different now. And I swear Deedlit's legs now look a bit shapelier in the thighs now compared to before. Anyway.

I decided to go from scratch to showcase everything, as well as the secrets I missed before. Anyway, things go pretty much roughly the same except I no longer spend time to get money to buy the dragon sword. So we best Pirotess again, and we venture off into stage 2. Which is sorta a castle barracks area? But most of all it has a volcanic area beneath it, and now this map is starting to get a bit larger.

But to our surprise we find Woodchuck who's running basically a gambling dice game to get yourself more gold faster.(Or lose it all.) But then after that we find Ghim again and he's a bit more talkative. Apparently there's a big risk going on of going deeper and deeper into this place Deedlit may not actually return from it. But not long after that we find basically the spirit kings of wind and fire, and we actually best them. But then we find Etoh whom is being vague with us but apparently, this is somehow a place Deedlit has retreated into? It's pretty unusual.

Also I love Deedlit's twirling motion as she does her double jump. I was curious how it was going to look, but it's different from all of the double jumps I've seen so far in games. And I can't help but feel that she now invokes Nei since we find an iron claw, which is Nei's starting weapon in Phantasy Star II and the iron claw here is somewhat beastly. It's fast and powerful. Also we get upgrades that make Slyph and Salamander more useful than just float around us, they actually attack enemies which is handy in spots.

But then we find Karla whom is using the visage of Layla, even though at this point Layla is meant to be free, and in truth, Karla is supposed to be possessing Woodchuck right now. So this does tell us that something is really amiss in here, but Karla departs as we then square off against one of the bigger and badder dragons of Lodoss history, Shooting Star, the red dragon. He's a real brute and a half, and he's tough. His defeat marks the end of the demo, which sorta gives us a bit of a pattern so far in the game. Each area has two bosses to defeat.

So we're left with a lot more questions than answers. We'll see if we get a stage 3 update in the near future, or we're then going to wait for the final release. But either way, I'm hooked and Deedlit's game isn't disappointing me. And also I realized that the game is not only similar to the Castlevania games in a number of ways, but it also does in fact have mild Metroid influences as well. Such as the colored doors that you have to find a switch in order to unlock. That's very much the mechanic that was in Metroid Fusion, where you had to unlock the different level access doors in order to progress in the game and such.

There aren't that many of these doors so far to extents, but I just realized now on how that's a pretty similar detail and I kinda like it. Also, the fight with Shooting Star is sorta like the fight against the red dragon in Dungeons and Dragons Tower of Doom. Except only Deedlit fairs a lot better to the initial attack by being able to make herself immune to fire breath, something I'm pretty sure the players of that game would've liked since it's an instant death move if it hits.
