Deep Space Directive first look #deepspacedirective
My first look at Deep Space Directive , Resource management without micro-management! Build, defend, and optimize your ever-growing industrial colony in a dynamic hex-tile world. Buy low, sell high to expand and upgrade your base. Even your enemies are a resource to be exploited. Profit waits for no one! Deep Space Directive is a resource managment without the micromanagement. The gameplay is largely relaxed, but punctuated by incoming attacks each night. The world and the tech tree are procedurally generated - so each playthrough requires a different approach. It's all about the joy of exploring a tech tree, building new supply changes and not getting lost in a maze of menus and buttons.
The "tutorial" takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes and covers all the main gameplay mechanics. The game continues after the tutorial is complete - no restart required. The tutorial can be skipped in subsequent play throughs.
The sound track is 100% original with no copyright issues. The tracks were produced by a free lance composer.
Outside of the sound track, DSD is the product of a single developer.
DSD will enter early access on March 3rd. Major updates will be focused on new tiers of the tech tree. The first EA release will have 3 tiers of the tech tree unlocked with 3 more tiers planned. The demo release served to get signficant community feedback, most of which has been implemented. Early access will continue to allow the DSD community shape the future of the game. Deep Space Directive is a base-building and resource management game about expanding, exploring, building, upgrading, and of course, defending. Your directive is to generate corporate profit by expanding and exploiting the resources in the world around you. Combat servers to generate special resources and maintain some tension - but is not the focus of the game. Build supply chains of mines and power sources to feed your hungry smelters, factories and refineries. The corporation demands profits and rising stock prices! A constant stream of fuel cells and raw resources are needed to keep your defenses functioning and your colonists fed. Collect, refine, and process resources. Fuel cells and ore are needed for buildings and colonists need water and food. As your population grows you can support more and more buildings. You were sent to build mines and factories, but when you landed you discovered it wasn't that easy. How will you defend your base? Powerful stationary towers or mobile but weaker units? Keep your energy supplies topped up before night falls or risk destruction. The enemies are more that just a drain on your resources. The Terrene resource dropped by the enemies can be used to help expand outward to find new resources. City Builder, Indie, Strategy
