Delid i5 3570k Before/After Temps + Assetto Corsa Gameplay
10I decided to delid my i5 3570K CPU which consisted of removing the IHS . Using the edge of a file and a wooden block piece it took two blows with a hammer to get the lid off. With no scratches or any cosmetic damage to the chip itself, i then applied Coollaboratory Liquid Pro (metal thermal paste) to the chip die.
Carefully putting everything back with IHS in tack i applied a nice pea size MX-5 thermal paste to complete the process.
Results may vary however i am pleased with the outcome and has reduced my core temps approx 20c using prime 95 small FFts (max heat output) option as a benchmark.
The overclock setting applied when benchmarking was @4.6ghz with 1.36 vcore. My chip isn't the best overclocker hence deliding to lower the temps and squeeze every mhz out of it :)
The game play footage overclock is at 4.7ghz with 1.43vcore applied which is high however temps are sweet and never hit over 65c however i don't intend to run this overclock 24/7.
I used Assetto Corsa to demonstrate in game stability and also to give users an idea of what temps they can expect. Assetto Corsa is pretty stressful on CPU cores, you will notice a 95% CPU load warning, however as this was a custom Nordschleife by snoopy v1.1 i do not see this warning in any other track despite having similar load on the cores.
Deliding isn't for everyone but it is worth a look at if you want to push for a little extra performance at lower temps. I am fully aware of the risks running at such high voltage so i am not responsible for you damaging your own chip :)
