The enemy ship is a Navy Brig. A Brig is a sixth rater. During the time, there was a criminal punishment whereby the offenders would be forced to serve on Brigs like this thus the term 'brigged' has become synomyous with being jailed. The Navy Brig is a Brig which has been inducted by the Navy and has a bit thicker woods and more guns. Demasting is what I did too to complete the Final Exam. For the Final Exam I demasted two three-masted ships. Using this tactic, you could fight 1 Vs. 3 or 4 AI and win. Three people were killed on my ship in this battle. Contrast this with 122 killed in a first-rate ship battle.
