First workout of 2022! First goal is get back to our PRs (127.5 squat, 76.5 bench and 167.5 deadlift), then 150 kg Squat, 100 kg bench and 200 kg deadlift. If by june we dont make much progress, we will think about changing what we're doing.

Christmas week we had a week of above 40*C / 104*f, 44*C / 111*f on Christmas day. Today it was above 30*c / 86*f indoors at 8pm.

We're adding squats to our two bodybuilding days (start from rack @ 47.5 kg, no hack cleans), so squatted twice already, and we've done the heaviest squat in six months! 112.1 kg. Maybe couldve done 116.5 kg if we just jumped after 107.5. We're focusing on a proper lowbar with wide grip to save our wrists, and engaging delts. Have to stop super setting calves, cause cant balance it in lowbar and wrists just get absolutely fried in highbar above 87.5 kg. I swear the low camera angle just exaggerates it, the bar is in the groove of bottom of trap and top of delt. Any lower and I wouldnt be able to hold it up (too much dependence on arms).

Because I believe we're so squat limited on everything, we should be able to make good progress if we just focus on it. Our overall training is still probably too bodybuilding focused, but we enjoy it and can keep it going.

Took blood pressure ~3 min after training, 3 reading average: 117/83! lol, pulse was still 92. 79 30min later.

Drank champagne on new years, hadnt drank in nearly two years so lost some resistance. We were going to try get blasted at a Plini concert in july 2021, then november, now late jan 2022, but I think it will get postponed for the third time lmao! Covid lockdowns/ramping back up in australia. Because a lot of music these days is written on a computer by one person, we wanted to see if Plini can actually play their own music lol. One of the reasons jazz/fusion is so good live (aside from just having the best musicians), is cause the crowd energy enhances improvisation, not like were you find out its a studio band which can barely perform.

Other random training thoughts - we definitely agree that time under the heaviest weight is the most important. When we started this "season" eight years ago we based around 1x10 warmup and 2x10 +50%ish working with more or less depending on daily strength. Then thinking "when it feels light we'll increase". Except it NEVER does. I would demonize "partial" reps, or singles (powerlifter thats completely gassed after one rep), but in our case with "low/normal" blood pressure, you'll never be able to move heavier weight without stressing blood pressure.

Random other thoughts on antidepressants - We've been off them multiple times, and everytime our sleep just dies. Like the idea that you get tired, lie down, go to sleep, and actually sleep for a decent length just doesnt exist for me. It got so bad I'd have "sleep anxiety" - I dont even want to try to sleep unless my heads nodding - which would result in fucked up 30+ hour cycles. Having tried quite a few, I found our fluoxetine/mirtazapine combo the best.

Gaming, been playing bf2042 and civ6. Even though I really like bf2042, its seems the masses have decided, hard to get a 128 player game in au (i skipped most of bf4, bf1, bf5, and both battlefronts though). Scourge league extended oof, well im sure we'll be recovered from burnout by the new league. I think you cant just add monsters anymore, as the games gone so far from picking items up. I dont even engage with "end game" crafting as it doesnt appeal to me and its still not worth picking most items up. Scourge just added more of the same monsters that dont drop anything. Krangling was a flop, best thing was the zero mana aura thing but we didnt know. Also with short racing dead, and the gauntlet the established event format, I dont think you can just add events with just 100 xp race. Need to add auto boss kill point tracking. At the end of the day, no game adds as much as often as poe, they've set a massive bar to keep following year after year.

We watched the expanse up to season 5 (waiting to watch season 6 in a few days lol). While its not a bad show, high budget/effects etc. I dont think the payoff ever matches what the end of season 1 set up.
