The first major area you'll visit after the Resistance Camp will be the Desert Area. It is a vast area that that city ruins that is flooded with sand. Head towards the northern section of the map to reach the Desert Area, where you'll find a small camp before stepping into the wider desert.
You can purchase items from a Shop at the Desert camp, which is a great chance to stock up on any helpful healing items before going for your objective. When you enter the area, you'll get a small communication before getting a new area marked on your map. Head to this spot to meet up with an android named Jackass. She will blow open an entrance to another section of the desert.
Continue through the path that opened up and you'll see a wide open desert. From here you'll need to reach a few marked sections on your map to destroy groups of enemies. Follow the map to each point and fight the enemies until you come to a final spot where one of the enemies will run away before you can destroy it. Pursue it until you come to a long pipe that leads to another section of the desert with destroyed buildings.
As you follow the robot different sections of the area, you'll have to fight groups of enemies that appear. Keep battling and moving to each new point on your map until you come to an area where you'll need to fight a larger robot with smaller enemies. There isn't much to this fight, but you'll need to take it out before you can continue. Just keep attacking and dodging its attack and you'll eventually bring it down.
Eventually, you'll come to an undergound pathway that leads to a crater where you'll find a group of robots interacting with each other. After a short cutscene, you'll have to fight the entire group of robots. Once you destroy them all, more robots will continue to appear and attack you. After a bit, a cutscene will trigger right before a boss fight.
Once you bring Adam down, a cutscene will play and then you'll need to escape the area. Work your way back up to the top of the cliffs and exit before the place crashes down. Continue up the path and you'll eventually find yourself back at the Desert Camp and right outside the City Ruins.
