NOTE: My apologies if I said Pahanin was female, old habit from previous speculation prior to TTK, Pahanin is male, confirmed by dialogue by Praedyth in the Paradox mission. Thanks to subscriber MeadX26 for correction.

The latest episode of Destiny Lore, Praedyth, a Guardian lost in time in the Vault of Glass! The Taken King brings a stack of new grimoire card and the quest the Paradox, the secret mission in the Paradox and the exotic quest line for the exotic pulse rifle, “No time to explain”, provides some much anticipated lore on the character of Preadyth.

In an effort to be more concise and also provide more content per week, I have cut some components from the script. Here is the content they did not make the final cut.

"Kabr and Pahanin"

Praedyth goes on to say, “they don’t deserve this”. This makes sense in the context of Kabr. We know Kabr can no longer remember the names of his fireteam, wiped from existence or like-wise he has been influenced by the hallucinogenic cells of the Vex. The Vault of Glass grimoire card details the internal struggle of Kabr by saying this “No one can open the Vault alone. I opened the Vault. There was no one with me but I was not alone.” We also know that it one final act, Kabr sacrificed himself to create the Relic, the aegis in the hope that future guardians could navigate the Vault of Glass. The Relic card confirms this by saying, “from my own light and the thinking flesh of the Vex, I made a shield.”
Pahanin is still a mystery to me. The Super Good Advice Grimoire card reinforces that he “witnessed Kabr’s fall” and he speaks about Kabr like he did survive the Vault of Glass. When Praedyth says, “they don’t deserve this” what does he mean, it seems that Pahanin survived the Vault, only to be killed later by Dredgen Yor. Maybe Praedyth is simply referring to how Pahanin was terrified to travel alone, after witnessing Kabr’s death or maybe it is like the Dr. Shim scenario, where multiple Pahanin’s exist in multiple timelines, tortured by the Vex. If you think you have more info on Pahanin, please leave it in the comment below.

"Vex slave"

the Paradox mission has an alternative ending and when unlocked Praedyth says this; “Welcome to the end of the Vex. Their "immutable" future. Enslaved to a will they don’t understand. A will long dead here. Dead, eon’s ago. But then they won’t end will they, because you’re here. The Vex won’t spare the city. They’ won’t even thank you. But that’s the thing about light, you never know where it will shine.”

I believe to understand this dialogue you need to have read all of the book of sorrows, and understand the relationship between the Vex, the Hive and the Taken. I don’t want to say much more on the topic, as I believe it will be better covered within the Book of Sorrows series. However, leave a comment as I know many of the friendly subs on this channel know the answer and will help out.

“King” Clovis

His obsession with this is reinforced by a new Warlock artifact, Sisyphus Project which reads “Clovis refuses to back down. Meanwhile, the others have taken to calling it 'the Sisyphus Project'…" — laboratory notes found at a Clovis Bray facility.”
The word Sisyphus extends from mythology, and he was a king who was punished in Tartarus by having to roll a stone up a hill, however at the top the stone would escape him and roll back down the hill. Consequently, he was caught in a never ending loop of tortue. The reference in Destiny I believe has multiple meanings, obviously his colleagues were making fun of him and described his research as pointless, no matter how many times the stone got to the top of the hill, it would always roll down. The second meaning I believe demonstrates the infinite nature of the universe and exactly what Clovis was trying to uncover.
