AOE damage, diablo, rogue class, build guide.
Welcome to the Diablo 4 Twisting Blades Rogue leveling guide! The Rogue is a fast, agile fighter relying on a combination of melee and ranged attacks with various tricks up their sleeves such as grenades and traps. Rogues naturally offer fast-paced gameplay with multiple combat styles that suits the player's needs. Skills are fueled by Energy, a resource that slowly recovers on its own or can be filled up quickly through various effects. Most skills deal Physical damage by default though there are ways to add elemental damage types such as Cold, Poison and Shadow.
Twisting Blades is a superb leveling skill because it allows you to deal AoE damage on the move. It combines a melee playstyle with extremely high mobility to maximize the number of targets hit and fly through the zones. While it's not the easiest to play, it feels amazing once it all comes together.
Skill Progression:
This leveling guide focuses on high mobility, Energy recovery and Vulnerable uptime for a well-rounded mix of AoE and single target damage.
Getting Started (Levels 2-3, 2 Skill Points)
Put 2 points into Basic Skills to unlock the other sections.
Puncture is our choice because it applies Vulnerable and helps out with extra damage when out of Energy.
Unlocking Your Core Skill (Levels 4-7, 4 Skill Points)
Twisting Blades is a powerful two-step damage ability. First you stick your blades into the target, then they return to you after 1.5 seconds. The skill rewards good positioning to improve your damage and playing around the returning blades is the key to being effective. Always position yourself so that you hit the most targets possible with each attack.
Adding Mobility (Levels 8-16, 9 Skill Points)
At this point you unlock one of the Rogue's signature skills:
Dash. This Agility Skill has two charges and allows you to zip around the battlefield to either engage, escape or reposition yourself. In addition, we pick up Shadow Step, another mobility tool that allows teleportation across cliffs, which is very helpful in outdoor zones as well as to maximize the value of the returning blades. This combo is assisted by the powerful
Dark Shroud for defense and even more speed, allowing you to fly over the battlefield to make the best use of your Twisting Blades.
At level 15, we also unlock the Rogue Specialization. Finish this Priority Quest as soon as possible to get Combo Points. While we don't care much about this effect, Puncture is still used regularly to boost your Core Skill's damage.
Introducing Shadow Imbuement (Levels 17-20, 4 Skill Points + 2 Renown)
Shadow Imbuement boosts Core Skills (Twisting Blades) by converting their damage to another type and adding extra effects. With it you can recover Energy with Consuming Shadows and blow up packs of small enemies. Use it as often as you can but avoid wasting charges on Dash or
Shadow Step. We also switch the Rogue Specialization to Inner Sight at level 20, which regularly refills all Energy and allows infinite spamming of our skills for a duration.
