Korg, the character played by Taika Waititi, is the director of this film. He is the second Marvel movie director to have a major role in his own movie, after Jon Favreau (who directed the first two Iron Man movies, and appeared as "Happy" Hogan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). Taika Waititi based Korg's character on Polynesian bouncers: The idea was to alter the stereotype of a hulking man made of rocks. Despite his size and weight, Korg has a light soul, and he's funny and friendly.
