After freshly completing a Windows 98 PC, I decided to to finally play the greatest version of Puyo Puyo I never realized I was playing in 1995. I also kill Pumbaa horribly.

The actual game I'm playing is "Timon and Pumbaa's Jungle Games". It is an MS-DOS/Windows 95 shovelware game released in December of 1995, developed by 7th Level, and published by Disney Interactive Studios. It's got 5 different mini games on the PC version. The bug catch mini-game featured here is basically a re-skinned and licensed less responsive version of Puyo Puyo with some different rules that cannot be adjusted:
- 5 color bugs.
- If there is an obstruction where a piece would rotate to, the piece will not rotate.
- The piece will insta-lock when it comes in contact with a surface.
- Softdrop cannot be canceled once initiated.
- You top out if ANY pieces are placed above the 12 piece vertical limit on any column.
- Garbage (rocks) are as evenly distributed as possible based on the state of your columns. (Lower elevation wells are prioritized first).
- Any pending garbage is resolved when the receiving player places a bug, even if the sending player is still in the process of popping chains.
- Garbage damage does not appear to scale up exponentially. (I have no idea on how damage is calculated)
- Timon and Pumbaa spit out random one-liners in a family-friendly attempt to insult each other.
