I managed to get to the Moon Mountain Pass Krazoa with Krystal on my unpatched/unmodified save/rom. This happened while I was messing around.
On further testing, it seems likely that this is possible in any version of Warlock Mountain, except maybe the very first instance (at the start of the game).
