I hope you are all healthy and safe wherever you are in the World right now and whatever challenges you are facing.

Please note - this is uploaded as Fair Use however I am happy to remove this video if requested by Nintendo or Rare.

NOTE: This was a bit of a nightmare to capture - N64 doesn't seem to play nicely with any of my capture cards. I think at times the scenes are too dark/light but hopefully this does the job and givers you a feel for the opening sections of the game. This is captured from original hardware.

Well this was a pleasant surprise this weekend.

Big shout out to Forest of Illusion for sharing this game with us all.

Those of you that have followed my channel will know I'm a huge StarFox fan (see my other videos) and it was well known that Rare were working on a final game for N64 called Dinosaur Planet which eventually was tied into the StarFox IP and released as their last game on GameCube (as they had been purchased by Microsoft) StarFox Adventures

It was known that the game existed and was playable at Trade Shows etc but after all of these years it has finally leaked and is playable on an Everdrive or similar flash cartridge

NOTE: Edit the Save.TXT file on your Everdrive SD card by adding this text:
DP=5
Otherwise you'll just keep falling through the scenery.

This is a really quick video to show the game off and you may get frustrated as I bump into things and fail to aim/steer properly. This isn't the games fault - it is fully playable - I had real issues getting my capture card to recognise any sort of signal and in the end dug out my first ever capture device and played via S-Video. This added massive lag and the device kept losing sync so there are times when my screen was blank (although the video seemed to capture ok which is odd) Plus it made the graphics a bit shimmery (compared to running it on my CRT) to play through so I stumble around a few times. Hopefully it is ok on the video.

It reminds me how awkward capturing from that generation can be with resolution changes and the like. Hopefully this is acceptable though and I'll try to capture a better quality video if there is interest.

Game is super impressive though as you'd expect from a late era Rare N64 game. Lots of speech - comparable to StarFox/Lylat Wars or the amount of speech in Conker's Bad Fur Day. Having played through Star Fox Adventures it was great to see this in N64 clothing. Would have been a decent send off for the machine. Although having said that the graphical upgrade on GameCube was eye-popping to say the least! This must be a late build as the Sabre character has been replaced by Fox McCloud (although still referred to as Sabre in some of the game)

Also - let me know what you think. Would you prefer the load times and screens to be edited out? I kinda like the "full experience" approach and to let the game or promo video or whatever to speak for itself but let me know feedback. I'm keen to experiment.

I'm also sorting my loft and finding all sorts of obscurities, oddities and nice games from my collection so I'll be doing some random vids. Let me know if there is a console or game you'd like to see. Let me know if there are any games or consoles you'd like videos about. Let me know if you like the format (i.e. no voiceover and the addition of short facts). Want End Cards added to point out other similar videos? I'm just trying things really.

As always the game cart is played on original hardware (although in this case via a Flashcart for obvious reasons)

As always if you enjoy this video let me know.

As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.

Stay strong, stay safe and stay healthy - Grey Fox
