Or... "Screw you guys! My medkits are for me". Expand to read the rest cause I spent so much time writing it.

Whadya know, another FTP shooter. This time it’s Splash Damage throwing its hat into the ring with Dirty Bomb. Now the thing to note here is that the classes in Dirty Bomb are two things, reasonably quick, and reasonably tanky. As long as explosives are not in play then everybody can withstand a fair about of lead to the body (and to a lesser extent the face). This means that getting kills is more a matter of tracking your target for a few seconds rather than popping off headshots (obvious exception being the sniper).

Speaking of the gunplay, you notice how accurate your guns are even when spraying from the hip. Sure, there is “Aim Down Sights” but you almost never need it. If anything considering how fast everyone moves, you might as well not even bother. The game even flat out tells you this in the intro video.

Now the match is this video is a 5v5 “Stopwatch” game, your basic Attack + Defend shenanigans with the objective stuff Splash Damage is known for, courtesy of the competitive matchmaker. 22 minutes of two of us completely rolling the other team but you get the idea on what this game is about. The map design is pretty good with a variety of paths and vantage points to set up on. This does tend to break down occasionally when a logical chokepoint appears turning the game into an explosive cluster**** for a few minutes.

Speaking of explosive cluster****, some of these classes can throw them willy-nilly and yes, they tend to blow you up real good. Effective but considering how long the TTK is otherwise, seems a little outta place. Adding insult to plupification You can’t revive a pile of gibs. OP much? The game could also stand to ease off the “bloody screen, so real” The screen is covered in strawberry jam only to find that you’ve only taken 1/4th of your HP in damage. Overall the game looks passable but some of the textures they really dropped the ball on. Performance isn’t the greatest with the odd FPS drop here and there but it’s sure a hell of a lot better than a couple of weeks ago. Thought we would have better mastery of the Unreal 3 engine by now. Least you got your pick of video options. Everything you could possibly want though I think the FOV slider is in vertical as cracking it up to 105 gives a hell of a fish lens.

So all in all, it’s gonna be interesting to see where this one goes. Kinda like the Super Smash Bros. of First Person Shooters. You can get the gist of all the important functions quickly and the gunplay is about as easy as it can be without an aimbot. It all goes out the window though the first time you get face rolled by some dude on a 15 kill spree. Suppose all is right in the world in that sense.
