4I really really tried to do this in good faith, i really don't want to assume the worst i promise
I tried very hard to make distinctions between where he was giving opinions on the show—during which points no matter how much I disagree I try to make a point of not spending too much time on that—and where he was misrepresenting facts, omitting context, ignoring the text or coming at an issue with unfair expectations and judging RWBY’s failure to meet them as a writing issue.
No one has to like RWBY, but with a platform his size and the credibility he has earned he has a responsibility not to omit so much context or otherwise spin narratives the way he does in this video—specifically framing Miles and Kerry as not just writers of something he didn’t like, but as a) the sole reason for everything he doesn’t like about RWBY b) perverts that write about a large cast compromised of primarily female characters (including some underage) because they wanted to write girls they find hot obsessing over their self inserts c) unoriginal hacks that are stuck perpetually mimicking other, better stories
