Just like Dark Souls, Bloodborne is a dark fantasy game with creative monsters and memorable universe with great gameplay that gets bogged down by unrelenting difficulty and tedium, but is arguably less cheap and more noob friendly than Dark Souls so I personally enjoyed it more.

Another thing Bloodborne has over Dark Souls is its universe, it is a unique mixture of Bram Stoker styled horror and Cthulhu mythos insanity. Other than in boss battles the game does not have a lot of music, but the music it does have is excellent and will often make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

Case in point for the theme of the cursed town Yahar'gul, one of the most creepy places in a game filled to the brim with creepy places. The music just adds to the area's dark and intimidating tone.
