DJ Meho: Driving to Sunrise Mixtape
0Ever since I started listening to rock music it seems that there was the discourse about its death. Stadium rock, then punk rock, then heavy metal, then hip-hop, then whatever genre you can think of were all supposed to be harbingers of rock music's death and final defeat, exposing it as a quaint historical artifact it is at this day and age.
But if you actually listen to rock music you know that this is consistently untrue. Rock music lives - not in the pathetic discussions about times that used to be better when we were young, nor the grandiose remembrances of classic albums the likes of which could NEVER be made today - but in the simple fact that year upon year, day upon day, there are new bands that make and keep making sincere, heartfelt rock music. They may not know the WHOLE history or much of the theory but they keep doing it anyway. And they keep it alive and KICKING.
For them: this mixtape is made almost exclusively of music published in 2021 (only three tunes are from previous couple of years) and are my way of thanking the people who made (and made available) some great music that continues to improve my life. Genre-wise it is mostly stoner/ psychedelic heavy rock but I wanted to feature a higher number of faster tunes this time around because, well, it's summer and you all need to move.
