dluxx7 explores for a short while...Genso Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki* (2012, PSP)
*translates in English to "Gensō Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century"
Hello everyone. Sorry its been a while since my last You tube upload. Offline life has kept me really busy so my apologies, but here I am lol.
I stumbled across this hidden gem of a PSP RPG game. I am really surprised this hasn't gotten as much attention or recognition among RPG fans, particularly given its ties to the popular Suikoden games franchise. This game seems to be yet another Gaiden; one that branches off from the continuity of the main Suikoden games. Game was a Japan only release in 2012 for the PSP and published and developed by Konami
From what I can gather about the game's plot is that you play as an unnamed hero; a swordsman from a remote village. With his close friends, Myura the apprentice mage and Geno; a young fighter, together they will travel across various lands and even across time itself recruiting 108 heroes which are needed to defeat in approaching ancient evil (this is very much like the 108 stars of destiny from the main Suikoden games)
Game mechanics wise, the game has a lot of elements from previous Suikoden games. Battle planning like attack formations which from the looks of things you can have up to six party members in battle. There also seem to be co-operation attacks where party members of similar classes can combine their strength together for a powerful attack. Neat.
The version I am playing is a google translated English translation patch which although is not by any means perfect (some of the dialogue is hilarious), you can still generally figure out what it is that character is trying to express lol. .
From the short time that I tried this out, So far, Im really enjoying it. Like I said, this definitely has a strong Suikoden vibe to it (it even has the battle victory theme also lol). I have even read passing comments that this is, according to them, the last true Suikoden game. Interesting...
Definitely an underrated and obscure game I think.
Finally, a message to RPG English translators..This game needs a proper and full English translation patch!.
