At this point, the question isn’t who is in Avengers: Infinity War, the question is - who isn’t? In an interview with Empire Magazine on the set of Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed his Doctor Strange will be showing up in Infinity War, saying that they are currently trying to align his schedule with Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.
As Gareth Edwards‘ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story approaches its December 16th release date, a new report from Belfast Live (via Screenrant) looks to have revealed the other half of Jyn Erso’s parentage. Actor Valene Kane was speaking with the outlet about her dream casting in the blockbuster fantasy and in doing so, revealed her part as none other than Lyra Erso, Jyn’s mother; though how she fits in to the story remains to be seen.
OPENING THIS WEEK
In a new report from The Wrap, Martin Scorsese’s long delayed Silence has finally secured a released date on the Oscar friendly day of December 23rd, later this year. It will then expand into more theaters later in January. Silence stars Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield as two two Jesuit priests who go looking for their mentor, played by Liam Neeson, in 17th Century Japan; a time when outsiders, and especially Christians, were treated with disdain and mistrust.
According to The Wrap, Sony is moving forward on its five-film plan for a joint film franchise based on the Valiant comic books Harbinger and Bloodshot; with the movies reportedly leading to culminate in a Harbinger Wars crossover event film. Harbinger follows a teenage runaway Peter Stanchek who has massive telekinetic powers. The second title, Bloodshot, is about a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and charged with rounding up “harbingers” like Stanchek. No release dates have been set.
According to Variety, Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki have joined the cast of Sony’s live-action/animated hybrid Peter Rabbit, that already has Rose Byrne and James Corden attached to star. The film will be directed by Will Gluck from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, and will be made at Animal Logic, the Sydney-based animation and visual effects production studio behind the The Lego Movie. Production is due to commence in January 2017, and is set for worldwide release in April of 2018.
Original Halloween director John Carpenter took part in a Q & A with some film students back in April, with the video only now hitting the internet. In the chat, Carpenter addressed the comments made by Rob Zombie from a 2010 TV documentary called Halloween: The Inside Story and had some harsh things to say.
