Dollywood December 2017 Construction Update: MASSIVE Clearing, River Battle, & More!
172There are 3 different areas of the park under construction. First, there is an enormous clearing behind Thunderhead and Mystery Mine. It has got to be at least 1/4 of the size of Dollywood. As of now, we know it will be the largest expansion in the parks history and will come in 2019. Basically what they have done is leveled a preexisting mountain. The smoke you see is because they are burning all the old trees back there because the wood isn't good enough to sell. Next, we have the River Battle demolition, which will be home to a new show venue. During Christmas Time, it will house a massive Christmas Tree. Finally, we have an old building by County Fair that was demolished. We do not know what will become of that space as of now.
