Dolphin Wii Emulator on Raspberry Pi 5
This is what I did to improve the performance.
Note: The Raspberry Pi 5 is running Raspbian aka Raspberry Pi OS. I also tried this with Ubuntu 23.10 but it didn't work as good as with Raspbian.
1) Install this before compiling Dolphin otherwise it will fail.
sudo apt install libhidapi-dev
2) Compile Dolphin from the git source as described here:
https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/wiki/Building-for-Linux
(I made a "Local Build" so it shouldn't conflict with the installed version.)
3) Overclock by adding the lines below to /boot/config.txt and reboot. If your RPi hangs move the SD Card to a different computer and lower the frequency in the file.
over_voltage_delta=50000
arm_freq=2700
gpu_freq=990
4) Set the display resolution to 1024x768 60Hz.
5) All Dolphin settings are default except.
Under audio: "Audio Stretching" and set it to 170 ms.
Under Graphics set "Auto-Adjust Window Size" (Don't adjust the window or switch to full screen)
6) Start the game from the command line in the build folder:
./Binaries/dolphin-emu-nogui -e gamefile.iso
Note you can still run the gui to change settings.
./Binaries/dolphin-emu
