Domain Adaptation and Related Areas

I offer my view on the theory-practice interplay in the topic of domain adaptation (DA); The scope of applications of DA learning is growing fast, with impressive demonstrations of success. The theory on this topic, strongly motivated by such applications, keeps coming up with new insights and algorithmic paradigms. My subjective impression is, however, that the theory-practice gap in this area is so far just widening.
