The Resort Layer (Layer 8, Sublayer 800) is a vibrant tropical level filled with fruit-themed platforms, sandy beaches, floating islands, and hidden grottoes. You’ll encounter numerous Banandium Gems (golden bananas) and fossils throughout, with a total of 42 gems to collect in this sublayer .

🎯 Main Story Progression & Key Sequence
1. Arrival & Objective Setup:
As you enter the layer, you meet the Fractones who explain your goal: climb the huge central watermelon using Liftoff Ore chunks to punch your way downward to a Void Stake, which you must destroy to unlock the path onward .
2. Collecting Early Banandium Gems:
Early on, you gather gems such as “Drove Off Void Kong!” and “Buried in the Beach” by digging at specific locations right on arrival. Nearby fruit-shaped structures, like a giant strawberry on a floating isle, offer another gem via manipulating rainbow shark blocks and diving into the strawberry .
3. Tropical Retreat & Quiz Master:
Next, you reach the Tropical Retreat checkpoint. Here, Quiztone challenges you to answer questions correctly for a gem. Additionally, destruction of the giant orange opens a hidden underground cave filled with arrow Fractones, leading to more hidden gems through directional digging .
4. Secret Grotto & Mine‑Cart Course:
A cracked cliff wall conceals a grotto with a gem. You also unlock the Mine‑Cart Country challenge through a Constructone interaction—finding gems both midway and at the end of the run upon completion .
5. Combat Challenges & Growtones:
Several gems are gained by completing battle challenges, including defeating Trailfinoids and Molevoloids, and by feeding Growtones increasing amounts of gold (400, 2,000, 4,000). Another comes from smashing 30,000 sand units and speaking with Smashintone .
6. Shifty Smash & Structural Puzzles:
You’ll engage in timed Shifty Smash challenges using Liftoff Ore and Ostrich Bananza to hit the top rotating platforms for gems. Another puzzle involves navigating the ancient ruins and timing moves along “boom rock” snake paths, sometimes with underwater or flying mechanics .
7. Cranky Kong & Environmental Interactions:
Swimming through a hidden tunnel reveals Cranky Kong—listen to his rant to earn a gem. Another requires using a barrel cannon to blast onto floating islands. Additional gems await after feeding plants, completing hidden platforming routes, or collecting bananas in rotating island sections .
8. Skydive Isle & Aerial Challenges:
You build a Getaway at Skydive Isle for rest and items, then ascend via Liftoff Ore. Gems are scattered across alcoves, shifty rotating platforms, and airborne arenas including the Battle: Aerial Aiming—defeat three Buzzoids using ore to claim a gem .
9. Final Elevation & Descent:
You follow Liftoff Ore on the Blast‑Off Boardwalk to rise above the central watermelon. Then dive-punch through to reach a Void Stake. Breaking it unlocks the route to the next core layer: the Tempest Layer .
10. Post‑Story & Bonus Gems:
After completing the main story, optional gems include special costumes or outfits—like wearing the Soggy Cravat to earn a fashion-related gem—or exchanging Banandium Chips at the Chip Exchange for more bananas
