Don't Nod And Deck Nine: Who Is In More Troubling Situation After Rough 2024 For BOTH Studios? 🤔
48@Player1vsTheWorld chief Adnan Riaz and StrangeCast co-host Adam Evalt are BACK for a chat about Life Is Strange: Double Exposure studio Deck Nine and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage publisher Don't Nod Entertainment.
Deck Nine was rocked in 2024 after the polarising release of Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, including key figures from the creative team being axed from the studio. The Life Is Strange: True Colors developer has also had to contend with two rounds of layoffs in 2024 and an IGN piece about alleged conditions at the studio and other controversies.
Don't Nod, on the other hand, has had its own problems after a mixed 2024. The French developer and publisher has been involved in a 'war' with the Syndicat des Travailleurs du Jeu Video, better known as the STJV, amid layoffs due to the company's "reorganisation project." Don't Nod has also seen a disappointing fiscal 2024 and Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden have failed to be commercial successes for the Paris-based company.
The Life Is Strange 1 & 2 developer has written down the assets of Jusant and Banishers, including 'pausing' two projects at Don't Nod and making changes behind the scenes for two other unannounced in-house projects. With Don't Nod Montreal's Lost Records: Bloom & Rage and Studio Tolima's Koira set to launch in 2025, can -- and will -- Don't Nod bounce back after a disappointing 2024?
Adnan and Adam both discuss the current situation involving Deck Nine and Don't Nod after a tough 2024 for both studios and ahead of entering an interesting 2025 for one of the developers (or maybe even both?).
