The Thing you can’t Defeat - is an Episode 1 total map replacer for Doom.

This is a blind complete play-through on UV. When I first came across this from another video I knew I had to pause and play it for myself. I set up a tripod and recorded this with my phone. Several times you can hear my genuine reactions (which are also timestamped in the video description)

A casual viewer may find this video only a little creepy, but this puts genuine fear to those like myself who played Ultimate Doom hundreds of times that the level is ingrained in our memory, which i'm sure is the author's intended audience. Nevertheless, if you haven't yet, I encourage you to play it as it has content that is not covered by this video.

Although, jumping, crouching, and mouse look are allowed, for the sake of authenticity I did not play with them.

To quote the author:
"This is an experimental WAD for Ultimate Doom that I’ve been working on for the last couple of months.

The Doomguy has dementia. The Thing you can’t Defeat lets you replay the first episode of Ultimate Doom as it slowly morphs into a confusing and demented nightmare.

This WAD was HEAVILY inspired by the WAD “Doom but somethings not right” and the album “Everywhere at the end of time” by The Caretaker."

Although I am not familiar with the works that the author is inspired by, this definitely gave me a sense of deep fear of losing the familiarity of something I've known so well, the allusion of the multiple deaths and rebirth the Doom Guy must have endured, only for me to play again the same levels over and over, until where the final level reflects back the first level - mostly intact, save for a few monsters until it all fades to black - like Doom Guy's last bit of memory, clinging to his brain, until it is all over.
