Armored Core - Arena Rank 50 to Rank 1 in 40 minutes, New Game WITHOUT Human+!
This is the whole Arena segment from Rank 50 all the way to Rank 1, starting from a NEW GAME without Human Plus, or loading a previous save! (Basically means doing it the hard way) - this is notable because, the enemies you'll be facing around Rank 15 or so are all Human Plus pilots - meaning they have the advantage of being able to use overweight ACs, and most importantly have the Blue Ball of Death sword ability which deals arouns 2k-3k AP damage!
This is a compilation of the after-fight replay segments where you get to see yours and the opponent's perspective, and a bird's eye view of the match, with basically no editing except to show that I started a new game, and showed the specs of my AC including optional parts at the end of the video.
When I played this game as a kid, I thought I would never finish the Arena and got stuck at about Rank 30 or so and didn't think it was possible to even reach the top ranks without going Human Plus yourself.
Now with better piloting skills, and a build focused on maximum damage and turning I was able to do it.
In the video you will see that I started out with the standard AC without any upgrades at the very first fight, I quickly swapped to a high damage Machine Gun and a wider radar at the next fight, and I continued to do so until the I had enough credits to buy the Plasma Cannon Arms which has arguably the highest or the second highest DPS at the cost of low ammo (40 ammo but fires 2 at once, so only 20 shots), no option for melee, and a small and narrow targeting window which makes it hard to aim.
To compensate for the difficult aiming, Instead of using the four-legged type I opted to use the fastest humanoid legs which while not as fast and easy to use than the four legged, it's easier to turn and jump to conserve energy, however it has low AP. Making my AC although High Damage - it has minimal health, and minimal Ammo. Meaning if I want to win and not die immediately, I will need to be good at dodging, using my environment to evade and cover, and position effectively away from my opponent's line of sight - which I was able to do so for the most part until the final 10 fights.
It's a do or die choice, but it shortened the fights from around 1-2 minutes to around 40 to 10 seconds each fight.
So here it is, proof that you can finish the Arena without resorting to overweight ACs, or using Human Plus yourself. I didn't believe I could do it before, but here is the video for your viewing pleasure.
