The BFG Edition uses the "Gravis UltraSound Classic patch set v4.11" for playing the classic DOOM music. The instruments are stored in the directory "DOOM 3 BFG Edition\base\classicmusic\instruments", and the DOOM MIDIs in BFG Edition are played using these patches. The classic music in BFG Edition basically sounds the same as it would on an old Gravis UltraSound sound card.
