Doom 3 BFG RBDoom Mod VR Gameplay HTC Vive
The franchise that changed it all in the beginning is back at it... Kinda. For all those under a rock the past few weeks: Indie game dev Robert Beckebans forked off Id Softwares Doom 3 BFG Github repo and added in Vive support. The result: The RBDoom mod.
If you own a copy of Doom 3 BFG Edition you simply need to pull down the zip file from the Github URL below and extract it to your D3 folder. The easiest way to get the appropriate folder is to navigate to the game in your library, right click Properties, Local files, Browse Local Files. From there just copy that file path from the explorer window and paste that into your zip program of choice.
Do not unzip it into a folder. Some utilities will try to unzip into a folder named after the zip file at whatever location you set. It needs to be extracted exactly as is into the root game directory.

The game plays well. There are a few times the gun tracking doesn't match the controller but they don't happen too often. Aside from the weapons firing slower than I'd like it really feels good.
You can skip the cutscenes with the right menu button. I've never played the game so I'm watching them. You don't lose control of your head but you do get bounced around a lot. I've played worse designed for VR.
If you own a vive, this should be in your library.
