Ever wondered if Doom 3 will run on Windows 98 with a 12MB 3dfx Voodoo 2 graphics card? No? Well too bad, we're doing this anyway.

● Here's the original source of the V2 patch:

● Instructions:
Download the Doom 3 Potato Patch archive
https://archive.org/details/Doom3PotatoPatches

Install Doom 3 (2004 retail release) normally, ignore OS warnings

Install DirectX 9.0b (I recommend 9.0c though, included in archive)

Apply Doom 3 v1.1 patch, then 1.3, and finally 1.31 from the D3_patch folder in the archive

Navigate to the installed game's "Doom 3\base" folder and open PAK000.pk4, PAK002.pk4, and PAK004.pk4 with WinRar 3.5+/7-Zip

Extract the folders GUIs, Materials, Models, Particles, and Textures to the "Doom 3\base" folder

Navigate to the Doom3_Voodoo2_Patch folder and open the executable there

Choose any texture size options you'd like, click both checkboxes if appropriate to your system (checked by default)

Click "Run" and select the Doom 3 installed game directory, let it do its thing for a while. Can take 10 or more minutes on some CPUs.

Copy opengl32.dll from the folder of the same name in the patch archive, paste it into the Doom 3 game folder alongside the main executable for the game

Open Doom 3, pressing escape to skip intro videos if needed. Open the options menu, change a setting or two, then apply/save/exit the game

Navigate back to "Doom 3\base" folder and open DoomConfig.cfg with a text editor like Notepad

Add the line seta r_singlelight “0” to the file, right below the final seta r_ line you see

Save the config file, then right-click the file, properties and choose "read only"

Open Doom 3 and see if you can start a new game. If not and you see a blank window, continue to the next step

Go back to the patch archive and copy the "savegames" folder itself over into the "Doom 3\base" folder

Open Doom 3 again and choose "load game," then pick the autosave. It should load then!
