DESCRIPTION ▼
Doom legend John Romero is coming back to the genre that he helped define... First Person Shooters.
Via a Romero Games job ad:
"Romero Games is hiring for an all-new FPS. Join the team. It's a new dawn for Romero Games. We're working with a major publisher to develop John Romero's next shooter: an all-new FPS with an original, new IP. Our team is expanding, and we're looking for talented people for all positions and at all experience levels, particularly those with Unreal Engine 5 experience."
About John Romero:
One of the founders of id Software alongside John Carmack and Tom Hall. Been working in the industry since 1982, and is most known for his work on FPS classics like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Doom II, Heretic, Hexen and Quake - alongside many other titles. After Quake was finished, Romero left id Software to found Ion Storm with Tom Hall. Their flagship title was "Daikatana" - but Ion Storm also produced classics like Deus Ex, Anachronox & Thief: Deadly Shadows. An infamous Daikatana ad claimed: "John Romero's About To Make You His Bitch....Suck it down". Daikatana was delayed for years and bombed critically and financially - almost destroying Romero's reputation in the process. His latest notable works include the highly-regarded unofficial Doom episode Sigil, and a recent Doom II level he released to raise money for Ukranian war efforts. Will be played in the "Masters of Doom" TV movie by Eduardo Franco (Stranger Things). In 2015 he founded Romero games with his wife and designer Brenda Romero. Romero Games' last title was the gangster strategy game Empire of Sin.
