DOOM Eternal is the immediate sequel to DOOM, which was released in 2016. DOOM Eternal, developed by id Software, offers the perfect combination of speed and strength, as well as the next step in first-person push-forward fighting. You'll emerge as the DOOM Slayer to exact revenge on the armies of Hell. You battle through worlds as you slay modern and classic demons with powerful new weapons and powers, all set to an all-new pulse-pounding score composed by Mick Gordon.
Under the now-corrupted Union Aerospace Corporation, Earth was invaded by demonic entities some time after the events on Mars, wiping out 60% of the planet's inhabitants (UAC). What is left of mankind has either abandoned the planet or joined the Armored Response Coalition, a resistance group created to combat the attack that has gone into hiding after suffering heavy casualties. The Doom Slayer arrives with a satellite fortress run by the AI VEGA to quell the supernatural threat by destroying the Hell Priests: Deags Nilox, Ranak, and Grav, after being tricked and teleported away by Dr. Samuel Hayden. The priests represent the Khan Maykr, an angelic being who wants to sacrifice humanity for the sake of her own race's salvation. The Slayer teleports to a ruined city and destroys Deag Nilox, but Khan Maykr transfers the two surviving priests to unknown places, prompting the Slayer to keep looking.
From a first-person viewpoint, players assume the role of the Doom Slayer, who fights the evil powers of Hell. The focus on "push-forward" fighting from the previous game is carried forward here, with the player encouraged to fight enemies violently in order to gain health, ammunition, and armour. The Combat Shotgun, Super Shotgun, Heavy Cannon, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, Chaingun, BFG 9000, and Ballista are among the weapons available to the player. Melee weapons include a chainsaw, the "Crucible Blade" energy sword, the Sentinel Argent Hammer, and the "Doomblade," a retractable arm-blade. The arm-blade allows for a wider range of fast and brutal "glory kill" executions, which drop additional health. The "Meat Hook," a ranged accessory that grabs on to opponents and slingshots the player into them, acting like a grappling hook, is now available for the Super Shotgun, making it effective in both fighting and outdoor navigation.
