Update: I realized that when I recorded this, my mic was on and I forgot to turn it off. Oh well.
This video is set in an alternate reality universe thing.
In 1978, following the introduction of the Intercity 125's (BR Class 43's), British Railways decided to send some of the Class 55 Deltic's to other parts of the BR Network.

They were loaned in small groups to several different lines to test them out.

West Coast Mainline - 2
Somerset and Dorset Line - 2
Cornish Mainline - 1
Seaside Line - 1
Port Road - 2

The ones sent to the WCML and Port Road saw occasional runs on the Settle and Carlisle line.

Likewise, the ones sent to the S&D, Seaside Line, and Cornish Mainline saw occasional runs on the Great Western Mainline.

Following the last Deltic run train on the East Coast Mainline in late 1981, or either 1982, I forgot, British Railways sent the classes to work elsewhere. Sometimes they'd visit their old stomping grounds.

In 1983, BR had them all withdrawn for refurbishment. Time was also take to add the proper equipment to enable multiple-unit (MU) working.

A good number of them were sent to the Somerset and Dorset line to work a wide variety of trains, most noteably, the famous Pines Express, which runs between Manchester Piccadilly (Sometimes Mayfield) and Bournemouth West. The Deltics did execellent on the Pines Express, mostly when run in multiple, creating a combined power output of 6,600 horsepower, which helped them tackle the infamous 1 in 50 climb between Radstock and Evercreech Junction.

Okay, enough blabber, enjoy this short video. God bless.
