The side-scrolling beat em' up is without question my favourite retro gaming genre . I decided to take a trip down memory lane with Double Dragon, a landmark fighting game from 1987 that is now available to buy as a download on Playstation 4.

When this game arrived in arcades back in 1987 it really upped the ante in terms of graphics, character variation, level interaction and weapon selection. No other beat em' up before had achieved all of this and presented it in such a compelling way. I would put it in the top 10 examples of the genre right up there with Final Fight, Target Renegade, Streets of Rage 1 and 2 and Vigilane (Crime Fighters 2 in some countries).

I give an overview of some of the options available in this game before going on to complete a game walkthough on normal difficulty. Apologies for the low sound level on this upload. You may need to adjust your volume if you want to hear those classic 16 bit tunes and bruising sound effects in all their glory. I will have this sorted for future retro game uploads : )
