Double Dragon Gaiden | Roguelite reboot? | Now with a decent FPS
6I beat Double Dragon in the arcade hundreds of time, it's one of my all time favorite arcade cabinets but not all of the Double Dragon game franchise has been stellar and the less said about the movie the better, it's not even the good kind of bad. We last saw the Lee Bros in River City Girls where their babe Marian had finally gotten tired of taking gut punches and got some killer abs, in this game she's traded in the abs of steel for some heavy weapons training looking a lot like Meryl from Metal Gear Solid and rocking guns, mines and a rocket launcher like Solid Snake.
That's not the only major difference, rockin' combos on multiple enemies rewards health, beating stages gives a choice of powerup and you can pay for continues with cash pickups or tap out and cash in your haul to buy permanent upgrades for your next run. It's a very different take on Double Dragon that helps encourage multiple playthroughs through the upgrade system and the story changing depending on what order you play the stages. The game had a major FPS issue but that's been patched so it's time to check it out.
