Dr. Manmohan Singh Leaves for BRICS SUMMIT

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today left for for South Africa to participate in BRICS summit in Durban on March 26 and 27. In his departure statement, the Prime Minister said that the Summit would provide a useful and timely opportunity to coordinate on a broad range of issues.He hoped that the Durban discussions would help in finding ways to revive global growth and ensure macro-economic stability. At the same time it would help in developing mechanism to promote investment in infrastructure and sustainable development.
The Prime Minister also said it was important that BRICS continue to consult closely on developments affecting global peace and security.
