Time to start this game. I will name my protagonist Heorot, in keeping with DQ4 and previous games. Of course, I also named the protagonist's son, the "real" legendary hero, Heorot in DQ5.

After naming Heorot, we find him at a campfire (time 0:36). A brief scene will take place. I think it's a little cool the way Heorot girds his sword.

After the scene, there is the option to extingish the campfire (time 2:20). Remember, only YOU can prevent forest fires! But I don't think this choice has any real lasting effect.

Anyway, the objective is to follow Heorot's companions to the north (time 2:33). This path looks a bit precarious.

The next objective is to talk to the blond woman (time 2:54). The final leg of the journey? But we just started the game! Anyway, in a pretty cool sequence, the party will gain entrance to a dark, foreboding castle. And the music is awesome.

Afterwards, we join Heorot and his companions in the dark, foreboding castle (time 4:58). The music is certainly unsettling. The objective is to guide Heorot through the rooms of the castle. There is only one way to go; all side doors are blocked off. It seems way too easy.

Some dialogue will take place as the party approaches the door to the villain's lair (time 7:09). Heorot's companions have a good point about the ease of their entry.

It's time. The party heads through the big double doors to the villain's lair (time 8:03). Instead of a titanic boss battle, though, the party's world gets rocked. Aiee!

But then Heorot comes to a rude awakening in his own bed (time 9:12). We meet his sister, Tania. She advises him to go speak with Mayor Spindell. We now have control of Heorot, the Village Lad.

Time to explore the house first. The eastern drawers contain a Leather Hat for immediate equipping (time 10:04). The pot in the west contains 10 gold (time 10:47). One of the barrels near it holds a Seed of Agility (time 10:53).

Heorot leaves the house (time 11:11). This is the very first village of the game, Weaver's Peak. A nice mountaintop village. As in most other DQ games, the church is the place to go for saving the game, finding your experience to the next level, resurrecting dead allies, and curing poison. Sleeping at an inn won't recover allies from death or status ailments.

The folk of Weaver's Peak will have plenty of info about the village and an upcoming festival.

One of the pots by the man in green on the western mat contains a Medicinal Herb (time 14:19). This heals about 30 HP.

In the southwest house near the entrance, there is a barrel containing a Seed of Resilience in the cow's stall (time 14:58).

In front of the crafting building just south of the church, one of the barrels contains 10 gold (time 15:23). I like the advice of one of the old craftsmen within. We'll try, sir.

Outside the pub, one of the village's younger citizens is practicing the undesirable art of vandalism (time 16:32). He does not seem to like a certain person named Buddy.

Just inside the pub, one of the barrels by the door contains 3 gold (time 17:08).

The weapon shop contains a splendid suit of armour, but it cannot be bought (time 19:25). Remember about this for later.

Just outside of town, the Mountain Path near Weaver's Peak can be found to the south (time 19:50). Heorot's buddy, Buddy, can be found there.

On the west side of the mayor's house in Weaver's Peak, one of the pots contains a Medicinal Herb (time 20:45).

In the northwest of the mayor's house, a pot contains an Antidotal Herb (time 21:30). The bookshelves have an intriguing read called 'The Quotable Slime: Volume One'.

The objective is to talk with Mayor Spindell (time 22:35). The mayor will give Heorot a job: to take the Village Goods down to the market in Haggleton, sell them, and use the proceeds to get a Spirit Crown. Heorot is not exactly Torneko Taloon, but he should be able to accomplish this simple task.

After accepting the job, Heorot can now make purchases at the shops. At the weapon shop, he gets himself a Bamboo Spear (time 25:00). Not the best, but certainly better than a Cypress Twig. If you are willing to wait a little bit, the mountain path contains an Oaken Club.

In the next video, Heorot will descend the mountain path and go to Haggleton.

Thanks for watching!
