This is my NEW PB run for the Dragon Warrior (NES) SuperSpeedrun 2023 event I raced in on 10/8/2023. The live race route was catered more to safety/consistency; this route is aimed at achieving the best possible time overall. This run went about as well as I could have hoped, and exceeded my expectations as to what was possible with a Lv 21 finish. Absent landing HURTMOREs on the Dragonlord at Lv 19, I can think of little that could improve this performance.

The SuperSpeedrun is an annual Dragon Warrior Randomizer community exhibition race held following the completion of the Summer Tournament. A vanilla rom is modified to make things go as fast as possible, with a small twist each year to make it a unique experience. Racers have 1 week to route the run, then a live race is streamed for all racers simultaneously.

The 2023 iteration features many quality of life changes present in official remakes and standard randomizer flags (such as increased enemy XP/gold rewards, decreased XP needed to level up, menu wrapping, etc.). The most significant tweak this year is the addition of a 65,000G chest in the Tantegel Castle throne room, but removal of Erdrick's Sword and Armor. These factors lead to deviation from a vanilla speedrun, and encourage creativity from racers to come up with new routes to optimize this challenging run.
